About Weihai
Weihai, formerly called Weihaiwei, is a city in eastern Shandong area, China. It is the easternmost prefecture level city of the territory and a noteworthy seaport. Weihai fringes Yantai toward the west and the Yellow Sea toward the east. Weihai's populace was 2,804,800 at the 2010 evaluation. Among them, 591,982 live in the developed zone. Rongcheng, a district level city inside Weihai, has a developed region with 1,006,795 inhabitants. Between 1898 and 1930, the city was a piece of the British rented an area of Weihaiwei; amid this time, the city itself was referred to as Port Edward and filled in as the capital of Weihaiwei.
Weihaiwei was the base for the Beiyang Fleet amid the Qing Dynasty. In 1895, the Japanese caught it in the Battle of Weihaiwei, which is viewed as the last significant skirmish of the First Sino Japanese War. The Japanese at that point cleared on 24 May 1898, when it was then possessed by the British. Since 2003, the Chinese ship Dingyuan has been tied down here as an exhibition hall ship and remembrance regarding Chinese faculty who battled in that war.
Weihaiwei was under British standard from 1 July 1898, under rent concurrence with the Chinese domain, until 1930, with 'Port Edward' as capital. A Royal Navy construct was worked with respect to Liugong Island.
