The Huangcai Reservoir

The Huangcai Reservoir is a big reservoir positioned in the northwestern part of Ningxiang City within the province of Hunan, People's Republic of China. It is the largest body of water in Ningxiang and the most important reservoir in Ningxiang. The reservoir is the supply of the Wei River. It price about RMB 5,393,300,000. Created by damming a few small rivers, Huangcai Reservoir, with a place of 240.8 rectangular kilometres, the reservoir has a capacity of 147,000,000 cubic metres. In 1949, the People's Government of Ningxiang, planned to construct a reservoir for irrigation, flood manage,electricity technology and fish farming.

In 1952, scientists started out to survey the limits of a piece of land in Huangcai Town. In 1957, scientists began designing it. In May,1958, the development work began. On nine May 1961, the Chairman Liu Shaoqi and his wife Wang Guangmei, General Gan Siqi and his spouse Li Zhen, the secretary of agriculture minister Liao Luyan, Xu Teli, the indoors minister Xie Juezai, and the provincial birthday party secretary Zhou Xiaozhou took component in labour. In May,1965, the government mobilized a huge amount of human exertions to finish the venture.
