About Temple of the Six Banyan Trees
Arranged on Liurong Road, Temple of the Six Banyan Trees is a world celebrated old Buddhist sanctuary worked in 537 in Southern administrations 386-581A.D. Over 1460 years prior in the Liang tradition, Emperor Liangwu requested the ace cleric, Tanyu to constructed Baozhuangyan Temple to store the Buddhist bones brought from Kampuchea. It is one of the four best Buddhist sanctuaries in Guangzhou, together with Guangxiao Temple, Hualin Temple and Haidong Temple. It has a rich accumulation of social relics and is famous both at home and abroad.
Consuming joss sticks is a major occasion when going by the sanctuary. Inside you will discover three extensive Buddist symbols; Sakyamuni in the center, Amitabha to one side, and Maitreya on the right. These are the biggest antiquated metal structures in Guangdong Province. Amid the Northern Song tradition, an incredible essayist - Su Shi, on a visit to this sanctuary was pulled in by the six banyan trees encompassing it and composed the engraving "Liu Rong" Six Banyan Trees.
Temple of the Six Banyan Trees was initially called the Baozhuangyan Temple, yet amid the Northern Song line, an author called Su Shi composed the engraving Liu Rong Six Banyan Trees as a result of the six banyan trees he saw there and from that point forward it was renamed the "Banyan Tree" sanctuary.
