About Suqian
Suqian is a prefecture-level city in northern Jiangsu Province, People's Republic of China. It fringes Xuzhou toward the northwest, Lianyungang toward the upper east, Huai'an toward the south, and the territory of Anhui toward the west. Suqian was said to be the site of a military grain store fabricated when the Emperor Yuan of Jin ruled. Hence, the previous Xiaxiang area where the store found was renamed Suyu in 405. At that point the area was added by Xuzhou and renamed Suqian in 762 on the grounds that the homophone "yu" as the given name of the Emperor Daizong of Tang was esteemed to be ineffable.
The district was put under the ward of Huaiyang military prefecture druing the Song tradition, at that point was exchanged to Pizhou after Jurchen's Jin took it. The district was directed by Huai'an military prefecture amid 1272 to 75, however reestablished as a piece of Pizhou a short time later. It was added by Xuzhou again in 1733. At that point it was put under the ward of Huaiyin in 1934. The region was changed over as a region level city in 1987, later was raised to prefecture status in 1996.
