About St. Michael Cathedral

St. Michael's Cathedral likewise called the Zhejiang Road Catholic Church, is a Catholic church in Qingdao Tsingtao, Shandong Province, China. It is situated in the most established piece of Qingdao, at 15 Zhejiang Road, on the east side of Zhongshan Road in Shinan District. It is the biggest case of Romanesque Revival engineering in the territory, looking like a German house of God of the 12th century. St. Michael Cathedral is the result of a solid German nearness in Shandong Province in the 19th and mid 20th century. In the mid-19th century the European powers coercively opened China to remote exchange.

The Divine Word Missionaries fabricated a congregation in the Jiaozhou Bay concession in Shandong in 1902, and in 1934 raised the house of God, which remained ostensibly under their organization until 1964. In 1942 it went under the control of the Japanese Army, coming back to Chinese control when the Japanese left Qingdao in 1945. In 1981, it was fixed by the legislature and revived for administrations, and in 1992 it was recorded as a Provincial Historic Building by the legislature of Shandong Province. The house of God remains on a slope in the focal point of what was the first settlement of the city of Qingdao, at 15 Zhejiang Road on the east side of Zhongshan Road in Shinan District. The congregation is worked in the noteworthy style of German Romanesque.
