About St Ignatius Cathedral
St. Ignatius Cathedral is likewise called the Xujiahui Cathedral and it is a Neo-Gothic Roman Catholic church structures which are arranged in Xujiahui, Shanghai, China.Since 1960, St Ignatius has been the seat of the Bishop of Shanghai and the base camp of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Shanghai.
A medium-sized, Greek-style church was worked in 1851 With the development of Zikawei as a focal point of Catholicism, another, bigger church was authorized.The first church at Zikawei now spelled Xujiahui was worked in 1851.
Outlined by English draftsman William Doyle, and worked by French Jesuits in the vicinity of 1906 and 1910. it is said to have once been known as "the most stupendous church in the Far East." It can suit 2,500 admirers in the meantime.
