Shanghai Museum

The Shanghai Museum is a historical center of old Chinese workmanship, arranged on the People's Square in the Huangpu District of Shanghai, China.

Modified at its present area in 1996, it is viewed as one of China's first world-class current museums.The exhibition hall was established in 1952 and was first open to the general population in the previous Shanghai Racecourse club house, now at 325 West Nanjing Road.

6 The establishing accumulations came chiefly from three sources: a group of antiques assembled by the Communist third Field Army amid the common war from coincidental finds and reallocations of private property and conveyed to Shanghai upon the Communists' victory of the city; ancient rarities appropriated by the traditions benefit; things sold by private gatherers because of political weight amid political cleanses and obtained by the legislature.
