About Sacred Heart Cathedral
This located in Guangzhou, otherwise called the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, or Shishi Catholic Church, is viewed as the 'Notre Dame of East Asian'. Situated at Yide Road close to the Haizhu Square in the downtown area, this 130-year-old Roman Catholic house of God is a sacred and quiet site in the clamoring urban territory. The basilica was composed by two French engineers, and finished by Chinese experts inside 25 years from 1863 to 1888.
With a gross territory of 3,300 square yards 2,754 square meters, it is the greatest in Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Guangzhou and one of the most terrific twofold steeples Gothic structures in China. Highlighting the greater part of the dividers and columns made of rock, the Sacred Heart Cathedral is nicknamed the 'Stone House' Shishi in Chinese by local people. It is the biggest rock Catholic structure in Southeast Asia, and one of just four all-stone Gothic houses of worship on the planet.
