About Mount Emei
Mount Emei is a mountain in Sichuan Province, China. Mt. Emei sits at the western edge of the Sichuan Basin. The mountains west of it are known as Daxiangling. An expansive encompassing zone of wide open is geographically known as the Permian Emeishan Large Igneous Province, a vast molten territory produced by the Emeishan Traps volcanic ejections amid the Permian Period. At 3,099 meters 10,167 ft, Mt. Emei is the most noteworthy of the Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains of China.
Officially, Mt. Emei is situated close to the province level city of a similar name Emeishan City, which is thus part of the prefecture-level city of Leshan. It was made an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. Visitors to Mount Emei will probably observe many Tibetan macaques who can frequently be seen taking sustenance from sightseers.
