About Kaiyuan Temple

Kaiyuan Temple is a Buddhist sanctuary in West Street, Quanzhou, China, the biggest in Fujian region with a territory of 78,000 square meters Although it is known as a "Hindu-Buddhist sanctuary", by virtue of included Tamil-Hindu impacts, the principle statue in the most vital lobby is that of Vairocana Buddha, the primary Buddha as indicated by Huayan Buddhism. It is presently called the Mahavira Hall is in reality the Vairocana Hall.
It was initially worked in 685 or 686 amid the Tang line. The sanctuary arranged in the Mulberry garden of proprietor Huang Shougong who was said to dream of a priest asking land from him for building a sanctuary. He gave his garden and transformed it into a sanctuary with the name of "Lotus Temple". In 738 in the Tang administration, it was renamed "Kaiyuan Temple", which is still being used at this point.
Behind its primary lobby "Mahavira Hall", there are a few sections with parts from a Shiva sanctuary worked in 1283 by the Tamil people group in Quanzhou devoted to Hindu God Shiva. The carvings are scattered crosswise over five essential destinations in Quanzhou and the neighboring zones. Along the focal hub are the Four Heavenly Kings Hall, Mahavira Hall, Sweet Dew Altar of Precepts and Buddhist Texts Library. The are more than 10 lobbies and rooms on the two sides, including Tanyue Ancestral Temple, Virtue Hall and Zunsheng Hall.
