About Jade Buddha Temple
The Jade Buddha Temple is a Buddhist sanctuary in Shanghai, China. Likewise with numerous advanced Chinese Buddhist sanctuaries, the ebb and flow sanctuary draws from both the Pure Land and Chan conventions of Mahayana Buddhism.
It was established in 1882 with two jade Buddha statues imported to Shanghai from Burma via ocean. These were a sitting Buddha 1.95 meters tall, 3 tons, and a littler leaning back Buddha speaking to the Buddha's passing.
The sanctuary now likewise contains a substantially bigger leaning back Buddha made of marble, gave from Singapore, and guests may mix up this bigger model for the first, littler piece.
