There is a well-known adage, on the off chance that you go to Chaozhou without visiting the extension, you can't state that you have been to Chaozhou. Mao Yisheng, a renowned master on the scaffold, stated, “A piece of Guangji Bridge is associated by water crafts as a barge connect. When it is open, there is a channel for boats and pontoons to get over. It can likewise be shut. Since it tends to be open or shut, it is an uncommon case in the historical backdrop of extensions in China”.

There are different structures on the scaffold, so there is a mainstream saying, "24 structures have 24 styles". The structures housed organizations. It was a prosperous time, so individuals stated, "In one Li one the scaffold, there is one Li of business showcase". In the year 1174, it was separated by flooding, so another judge, of Chang Wei prefecture, had specialists begin to remake it, starting with extension docks on the west bank. By 1194, a few judges of the prefecture including Zhu Jiang, Wang Zhenggong, Ding Yinyuan, and Wang Shujin had been engaged with the development of 10 connect wharfs. Ding Yunyuan assembled the most wharfs; and for his remarkable accomplishments, the extension was called Ding Gong Bridge.
