About Drum Tower

The Drum Tower of Xi'an, situated in the core of Xi'an in Shaanxi region of China, alongside the Bell Tower is a symbol of the city. Raised in 1380 amid the early Ming Dynasty, it stands transcending over the downtown area and offers amazing perspective of Xi'an. In contrast to the Bell Tower, where ringer was stricken at day break, drum was beat at sunset to demonstrate the day's end. On the Drum Tower's first floor, lies a corridor which hangs numerous vast drums. The impressive arrays of drums are just on show and visitors are not permitted to contact any of them. Be that as it may, there is an additional drum close to the front passageway where visitors can pose for pictures for a small charge.
Inside the Drum Tower there is also a drum museum, where an assortment of drums are on display, some of which can be gone back thousands of years. There is a drum show performed here consistently. The highest point of the pinnacle commands an all encompassing perspective of the city. The Bell Tower also contains several extensive bronze-cast bells from the Tang Dynasty. The pinnacle is a block and timber structure and close to 40 m 130 ft high. It is situated in the focal point of Xi'an, at the intersection of the four streets of the east, west, south and north. It is the largest and most preserved one among the many chime towers left over from old China.
