About Datong Nine Dragon Screen
The Datong Nine Dragon Screen, built over 600 years ago, is presently the oldest and largest glazed screen in China today. It is three times bigger than that in Beihai Park , Beijing City. The screen, worked for the thirteenth child of Zhu Yuanzhang, the primary Emperor of the Ming Dynasty 1368-1644, has been very much saved and stays unblemished right up 'til today. It is comprised of 426 uncommonly let go coated blocks, with a stature of 8 meters around 26 feet, 2.02 meters 6.6 feet thick and 45.5 meters 149 feet long. The Screen can be separated into three sections, the platform, body and rooftop. The platform is rectangular molded with a stature of 2.09 meters 6.9 feet.
Its limited center area is made out of 75 coated tiles with pictures of bulls, mutts, deer rabbits and different creatures. The plan of the body is that of a green wave on the lower part and a blue and yellow cloud on the upper part. It comprises of nine flying mythical serpents, with a brilliant scaled, gleaming looked at monster situated in the inside. On its each side is a couple of light yellow mythical beasts with their heads pointed East and tails pointed towards the middle. A second match of exquisite yellow mythical serpents is next with their heads and tails pointed west.
