About Autumn-Admiring Pavilion

Autumn Admiring Pavilion or Aiwan Pavilion is a Chinese structure on Mount Yuelu, in Yuelu District, Changsha, Hunan, China. Close by the Zuiweng Pavilion, Taoran Pavilion and Huxin Pavilion, it is one of the Four Great Pavilions of Jiangnan. The Autumn-Admiring Pavilion was first built with the name of Red Leaves Pavilion in 1792 in the time of Emperor Qianlong by Luo Dian, the then leader of Yuelu Academy. Also, later Bi Yuan, Viceroy of Huguang, changed its name to Autumn-Admiring Pavilion. It is refered to from the verses of that "I stop my carriage to respect the maple trees at dusk, whose cold leaves are redder than the blossoms of late-winter."
The present Autumn-Admiring Pavilion is of unadulterated stone structure. The rooftop is secured with green coated tiles. It has two layers of overhanging roof, eight rock hypostyle segments in the structure. Appropriate over the structure, there is a major caissons. In the focal point of the second floor of the structure is a red stele, on which there are the words "Fall Admiring Pavilion", composed by Mao Zedong in 1952. Tourists come here from all over the world with their family members and friends to visit this place.
