About Wiarton
Wiarton is a network in Bruce County, Ontario, at the western end of Colpoys Bay, a delta off Georgian Bay, on the Bruce Peninsula. The people group is a piece of the town of South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario. Wiarton is known for the Wiarton Willie Festival, in February every year beginning in 1956, when national and worldwide media cover Wiarton Willie and his Groundhog Day prediction. In the mid year, Wiarton has the Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race.
Wiarton was based on grounds gained from the First Nations in the zone. It was named after the origination of Sir Edmund Head, the Governor General of Canada from 1854 to 1861. In 1880, Wiarton was fused as a town, at that point with a populace of 750. By 1894, Wiarton had turned into a fused town.
The Government of Ontario has raised two memorable plaques in Wiarton, offering a look into the past of this zone. The primary examines the way that the Bruce Peninsula is an obstruction to water transportation between Lake Huron and southern Georgian Bay. To keep away from a troublesome reroute toward the north, native people groups built up a portage course over the base of the promontory.
