About Wawa
Wawa is a township in the Canadian area of Ontario, situated inside the Algoma District and connected with Wawa Lake. In the past known as the township of Michipicoten, after an adjacent stream of that name, the township was authoritatively renamed in 2007 for its biggest and best-known network of Wawa. This region was first created for hide exchanging. In the late nineteenth century, both gold and iron metal were found and mined, prompting the district's ascent as the steel business created in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. From 1900-1918 the Helen Mine had the most noteworthy generation of iron metal of any mine in Canada.
The township incorporates the littler networks of Michipicoten and Michipicoten River, which are little port settlements on the shore of Lake Superior. These names are gotten from the Ojibwe expression for the stream. Stronghold Michipicoten was built at the mouth of the Michipicoten River. It was at the intersection of the primary hide exchange course from Montreal westbound and the course to James Bay by means of the Missinaibi River. The town created five miles upriver from here. French travelers achieved the zone by no less than 1681, and local army manufactured the post in either 1725 or 1727. By 1729, it was a station of Fort Kaministiquia in Vérendrye's Postes du Nord. The site was on the south bank of the stream, inverse the mouth of the Magpie River.
