About Wallaceburg and District Museum

It is located in Southern Ontario in the town of Wallaceburg. Found a half-obstruct from the banks of the Sydenham River, the gallery possesses the previous Wallaceburg Hydro Office at 505 King Street. The gallery opened on June 29, 1984. The gallery reports the start of the Wallaceburg people group from the establishing of the Baldoon Settlement by Lord Selkirk in 1804 to its prosperity as a modern center point in the mid-1900s.

In 1974, five men consolidated their endeavors to establish the Wallaceburg and District Historical Society WDHS. They were Doug Thompson, A.G. Fairhead, Tom Chatterton, Frank Mann and Al Mann. The gathering looked to make a methods for protecting and displaying the historical backdrop of the Wallaceburg people group, and chose the formation of an open exhibition hall.
The WDHS started leading meetings with more seasoned natives of the network, and arranging material property to multi day be shown. In 1981, the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport once in the past known as the Ontario Ministry of Culture and Recreation wound up associated with the task, and worked with the WDHS to discover potential locales for the development of the exhibition hall, one of which being an extensive working at 505 King Street possessed by Wallaceburg Hydro.
