Thornhill

Thornhill is a community in the Regional Municipality of York in Ontario, Canada. It is split between the cities of Vaughan and Markham, lying along the north border of Toronto, centred on Yonge Street. Once a police town, Thornhill is right now a system and postal task. As demonstrated by the 2001 Census, Thornhill-Vaughan's masses was 56,361, and the quantity of tenants in Thornhill-Markham was 47,333. It is in a split second south and south-west of Richmond Hill.

There are no expansive recuperating focuses in the Thornhill region; the nearest are Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital in Richmond Hill and North York General Hospital in Toronto. A private specialist's office, Shouldice Hernia Center, is in Thornhill. Thornhill was built up in 1794. Its first pioneers on Yonge Street in Thornhill were Asa Johnson and Nicholas Miller. Of particular criticalness was the passage of Benjamin Thorne in 1820 from Dorset, England, who was working a gristmill, a sawmill, and a tannery in the system.

The settlement came to be known as Thorne's Mills, and later, Thorne's Hill, from which its present name is resolved. Thornhill's development since the 1970s has been to a great extent associated with its area flanking what is currently the City of Toronto. Development has proceeded apace. Improvements have jumped up crosswise over different regions of Thornhill in every one of the city areas which envelop Thornhill, following the advancement examples of the Greater Toronto Area.
