Swift Current
About Swift Current
Swift Current is the fifth largest town within the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It is located alongside the Trans Canada Highway a hundred and seventy kilometres west from Moose Jaw, and 218 kilometres east from Medicine Hat, Alberta. Swift Current grew. 8% between 2011 and 2016, finishing up at 16,604 residents. The town is surrounded via the Rural Municipality of Swift Current No. 137. Swift Current's records began with Swift Current Creek which originates at Cypress Hills and traverses one hundred miles of prairie and empties into the South Saskatchewan River. You can come and explore this place.
The creek changed right into a camp for First Nations for loads of years. The call of the creek comes from the Cree, who called the South Saskatchewan River Kisiskaciwan, this means that "it flows swiftly". Fur consumers located the creek on their westward treks inside the 1800s, and known as it "riviere au Courant". Henri Julien, an artist traveling with the North-West Mounted Police tour in 1874, noted it as "Du Courant", and Commissioner George French used "Strong Current Creek" in his diary. While it took some other decade in advance than being officially recorded, the location has constantly been known as "Swift Current".
