About Redwater
Redwater is a town in the Edmonton Capital Region of Alberta, Canada inside Sturgeon County. It is situated on Highway 38, roughly 52 km north of Edmonton. Its populace was 1,915 in the 2011 census,while the town's civil registration directed in 2012 tallied a populace of 2,116. Redwater is situated inside the government riding of Westlock St. Paul and the common riding of Athabasca-Redwater.
In the mid 1900s, the territory where Redwater stands was settled first by Ukrainian pioneers, and pursued by English and French pilgrims. The name Redwater is a reference to the adjacent Redwater River, an ochre-hued tributary that channels into the North Saskatchewan River. The study of the Redwater territory was enlisted on September 7, 1906.
The first mail station, built up in 1907 at an area toward the east of present-day Redwater, was moved in 1919 to the ebb and flow town site when Redwater was set up as a hamlet.On December 31, 1949 it was consolidated as a town, turning into a town a year later on December 31, 1950. Originally, Redwater was principally a cultivating community. The 1948 revelation of oil in the zone changed the village of around 160 people into a town of 1,306 by 1951.
