About Peace Arch
The Peace Arch is a landmark situated close to the westernmost purpose of the Canada in United States outskirt in the coterminous United States, between the networks of Blaine, Washington and Surrey, British Columbia. The Peace Arch, which stands 20.5 meters 67 ft tall, was worked by Sam Hill and dedicated in September 1921, and perceives the checking of the Treaty of Ghent in 1814. The point of interest depends on the right United States– Canada restrain, between Interstate 5 and Highway 99, in the grass center between the northbound and southbound ways.
The Peace Arch has the standards of United States and Canada mounted on its crown, and two etchings on the two sides of its frieze. The etching on the U.S. side of the Peace Arch examines "Posterity of an average mother", and the words on the Canadian side read "Brethren standing together in solidarity". Inside the bend, each side has an iron entryway mounted on either side of the periphery with an etching over every passage: the one on the east side read "May these entryways never be closed", while on the west side read "1814 Open One Hundred Years 1914". Around 500,000 people visit the Peace Arch each year.
