About Parksville
Parksville is a city on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. The city is located on Highway 19A, 37 kilometers northwest of Nanaimo, 48 kilometers east of Port Alberni and 7 kilometers south-east of Qualik beach. Most of the land of Parksville is situated between the British River and French Creek, although a large part of the city is located along the west coast of Craig Bay, east of the British River. According to the 2016 census, Parksville's population was 12,514, which represents an increase of 4.5% in the 2011 Census. Famous for large, sandy beaches in Parksville Bay and Craig Bay.
Since 1982, the city's most famous annual event is the Sandals-Building competition, which is held from mid-July to mid-August, which is called 'Parksville Beachfest'. Beachfest is the only world championship sand sculpling official qualifying event in Canada. Media, business, and citizen services often refer to Parksville with their surrounding municipalities, as a community of 'Oceanic', usually with Qualmim Beach, French Creek, Combs / Hilieres, Errington, Nanos, Boser and Deep Bay Human habitation has been in this area for thousands of years. Prior to the Euro-Canadian settlement, this area was home to several coastal indigenous groups: Qualim, Sno-no-az Nanos, and the Snunemuksv People.
