About Mount Edith Cavell

The mountain was named in 1916 for Edith Cavell, an English medical attendant executed by the Germans amid World War I for having helped Allied officers escape from possessed Belgium to the Netherlands, disregarding German military law. Mount Edith Cavell is a mountain situated in the Athabasca River and Astoria River valleys of Jasper National Park, and the most noticeable pinnacle totally inside Alberta. It was already known as Mount Fitzhugh.

A nearby perspective of the north face of Mount Edith Cavell is noticeable after a short climb to Cavell Meadows. The trail to the knolls is 3.8 kilometers 2.4 mi one way, rising 370 meters 1,214 ft to 2,135 meters 7,005 ft. The trailhead is by the parking area toward the finish of Mount Edith Cavell Road.

The hanging Angel Glacier is noticeable from Cavell Meadows, which overflow a 300 meters 984 ft precipice on the north face. The Canadian Rockies Trail Guide depicts the trail in detail. Access to the Tonquin Valley trails can be found around one kilometer before the finish of the Mount Edith Cavell Road.

There is a stopping territory opposite the Mount Edith Cavell Hostel. A short stroll down the rock way prompts the north end of Cavell Lake. There is little scaffold over the stream that exhausts the lake. From here there are great perspectives with the lake in the frontal area and the Mount Edith Cavell massif out of sight.
