About Lindsay
Lindsay is a community of 20,354 people on the Scugog River in the Kawartha Lakes region of south-eastern Ontario, Canada. It is roughly 43 km west of Peterborough. It is the seat of the City of Kawartha Lakes and the center point for business and trade in the locale. Lindsay Transit gives transport administration to the network and encompassing region. The Township of Ops was overviewed in 1825 by Colonel Duncan McDonell, and Lots 20 and 21 in the fifth Concession were held for a town site.
That year pioneers started to go to the district, and by 1827, the Purdys, an American family, assembled a dam on the Scugog River at the site of present-day Lindsay. The next year they fabricated a sawmill, and in 1830, a grist process was built. A little town grew up around the factories, and it was known as Purdy's Mills. In 1834, surveyor John Huston plotted the assigned town site into bouleds and parts.
Amid the study, one of Huston's associates, Mr. Lindsay, was unintentionally shot in the leg and passed on of a disease. He was covered on the riverbank and his name and passing were recorded on the surveyor's arrangement. The name Lindsay stayed as the name of the town by government endorsement. Lindsay developed relentlessly and formed into a blundering and cultivating focus.
