Kingston

Kingston is a city in eastern Ontario, Canada. It is on the eastern end of Lake Ontario, toward the start of the St. Lawrence River and at the mouth of the Cataraqui River south end of the Rideau Canal. The city is somewhere close to Toronto, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec.

Making European examination in the seventeenth century and the requirement for the Europeans to set up a vicinity near to Native inhabitants to control exchange instigated the working up of a French exchanging post and military fortification at a site known as "Cataraqui" general clarified "kah-tah-ROCK-path" in 1673. This station, called Fort Cataraqui, and later Fort Frontenac, changed into an obsession for settlement. Cataraqui would be renamed Kingston after the British stated the stronghold and Loyalists started settling the region in the 1780s.
