About Forty Mile Creek Park
Forty Mile Creek Side Trail is composed of roughly 1.7 km of trails that trace the banks of Forty Mile Creek. This trail passes through Coronation Park and follows Forty Mile Creek along a senic tour of the heart of downtown Grimsby. It passes under the QEW, skirts a sports field, crosses Olive Street and continues through parkland until it ends at Grimsby Harbour. Here it completes the only link between the Bruce Trail and the Waterfront Trail.
The park was once the site of the Engagement at the Forty, a major conflict during the war of 1812. The Grimsby Pumphouse and the Elizabeth Street Waterworks are both excellent examples of earlier 20th Century waterworks infrastructure that can be found along the trail and are restored and available for the public.
