About Fergus
Fergus is the biggest network in Center Wellington, a township inside Wellington County in Ontario, Canada. It lies on the Grand River around 18 km NNW of Guelph. The number of inhabitants in this network at the season of the 2016 Census was 20,767, yet the network is developing as new homes are being worked for sale. Fergus was a free town until 1999 when the Township was framed by amalgamating Fergus, the Village of Elora, Ontario and the Townships of Nichol, Pilkington, West Garafraxa and a piece of Eramosa.
The primary pioneers to this zone were liberated slaves who framed what was known as the Pierpoint Settlement, named after their pioneer, Richard Pierpoint, a United Empire Loyalist initially from Bondou, Senegal in Africa. Alongside about six other men who had additionally battled with the British amid the American Revolutionary War, Pierpoint was allowed arrive in Garafraxa Township some place around what is currently Scotland Street in Fergus.
Another settlement was established close-by in 1833 and was first called Little Falls due to the grand water falls, now between the Public Library and the Fergus Market. The essential designers were Adam Fergusson and James Webster who had purchased 28 km² 7000 sections of land of land. Both were later legal counselors by calling. The primary scaffold over the stream in the core of the settlement was worked in 1834 by Fergusson.
