Elora
About Elora
Elora is a delightful gathering arranged around 25 km upper east of Guelph at the crossing point of the Grand and Irvine conduits; the sheer gloriousness of the convergence rivals NIAGARA FALLS. Joined as a town in 1858, Elora lost this status in 1999 when it was united into the as of late encircled township of Center.
Elora was set up 1832 by Captain William Gilkison of Irvine, Scotland, and named after Ellora, his kin's pontoon. Gilkison, a cousin of John GALT, the CANADA COMPANY promoter, was awed by the wonderfulness of the limestone pig out. Change ceased in the 1870s however there remains a brilliant untainted display of nineteenth century Ontario designing in piece and stone to supplement the normal scene.
