About Departure Bay
Departure Bay is a bay in central Nanaimo, British Columbia, on the east shore of Vancouver Island. The encompassing neighborhood is likewise alluded to as "Departure Bay"— once its very own settlement, it was amalgamated into the City of Nanaimo in the 1970s. The bay is surrounded toward the west by Vancouver Island and toward the south-east by Newcastle Island, a commonplace marine stop with a long history of mining, quarrying, herring salteries and tourism.
