About Crimson Lake

Crimson Lake received its name from the striking colorations of the setting sun reflecting at the floor of its waters seen by an in advance trapper. It is a small, clear, shallow lake set within the meeting spot of foothills pine forests, aspen parkland, bog and muskeg ecosystems. It is a provincial park placed in Alberta, Canada, 14 km west and 2 km North of Rocky Mountain House just off the David Thompson toll road on secondary highway 756. Located on the northeast shore of the Lake is Pioneer Ranch Camp, a Christian summer time camp in the park's boundaries.
Bird looking in the reeds alongside the lakeside is commonplace because the park has populations of sandhill cranes, boreal owls, northern pygmy-owls, extra yellowlegs, western tangers and solitary sandpipers. Fish species in Twin Lakes encompass Fathead Minnow, Northern Pike, Pearl Dave, Rainbow Trout, White Sucker, and Yellow Perch. In the summer season months, Black bears are common inside the park and close by regions. Occasionally grizzly bears are sighted as properly. Bear protection is essential and park conservation officiers are available to share data and protection brochures. Moose and deer are abundant and generally regarded. The vicinity additionally has beaver, purple squirrel, shrew and once in a while cougers.
