About Civic Gardens

This open zone contains The Civic Gardens, The Great Lawn, Heirloom Orchard and the Hill. Metro Gardens are an energetic festival of Ottawa's green legacy, raised beds show an assortment of plants and subjects, with 7 beds of plants of Indigenous significance. 2017 plantings stamp a centennial festival of the beginning of the Victory Garden activity.

Legacy Orchard at Lansdowne Park includes in excess of 800 trees, including a plantation of 37 treasure apple trees. The best time to visit the plantation is in late-spring while the apple trees are in full blossom, or pre-fall July/August when the apples have shaped. Open to people in general day in and day out year round.
