About Canadian Forces Station Beaverlodge
Canadian Forces Station Beaverlodge is a shut General Surveillance Radar station. It is found 4.9 miles 7.9 km east-upper east of Beaverlodge, Alberta. It was shut in 1988. It was worked as a feature of the Pinetree Line organize controlled by NORAD. Because of the Cold War and with the development of a North American mainland air protection framework, The site at Saskatoon Mountain was chosen as a site for a United States Air Force USAF radar station, one of the numerous that would make up the Pinetree Line of Ground-Control Intercept GCI radar destinations. Development on the base started in 1952 and was finished by 1953.
The base was kept an eye on by individuals from the USAF's Air Defense Command ADC 919th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron, being known as Saskatoon Mountain Air Station. The station was officially responsible to Canadian Forces Air Defense Command, and its successor Fighter Group. In August 1984, Beaverlodge turned out to be a piece of the Canada West ROCC. The station carried on its allocated obligations until the point when tasks stopped on 1 April 1988. Today, the offices of the radar station have been evacuated, and the land is currently a cleared lush site with almost no proof of its military past.
