About Bytown Museum

The Bytown Museum is famous among locals and visitors; it is a museum in Ottawa, located at the Rideau Canal at the Ottawa River, just beneath Parliament Hill. Housed in the Commissariat Building, Ottawa's most established staying stone building, the historical center gives a far reaching outline of the birthplaces of Bytown and its advancement and development into the present city of Ottawa. The gallery's perpetual show, Where Ottawa Begins, is spread throughout the second and third floors of the Commissariat Building. The second floor of the gallery investigates the historical backdrop of the National Capital Region from the inceptions of European settlement in the zone to the consolidation of Ottawa in 1855. The third floor proceeds with the account by analyzing the advancement of the city of Ottawa, the social and social existence of Victorian circumstances, the death of Thomas D'Arcy McGee and the consuming of the Parliament Buildings.
