About Attawapiskat
The Attawapiskat First Nation is an isolated First Nation located in Kenora District in northern Ontario, Canada, at the mouth of the Attawapiskat River on James Bay. The customary domain of the Attawapiskat First Nation stretches out past their save up the drift to Hudson Bay and many kilometers inland along waterway tributaries. The people group is associated with different towns along the shore of James Bay by the regular ice road,winter street built every December, connecting it to the towns of Kashechewan First Nation, Fort Albany, and Moosonee Attawapiskat, Fort Albany, and Kashechewan work and deal with the James Bay Winter Road through a mutually possessed company named after the Cree word for "our street" kimesskanemenow, the Kimesskanemenow Corporation.
Attawapiskat is the most remote northerly connection on the 310-kilometer-long street to Moosonee. They control the stores at Attawapiskat 91 and Attawapiskat 91A. Attawapiskat signifies "individuals of the separating of the stones" from the Swampy Cree dialect talk a-wa-pis-shkag. The Attawapiskat River cut out a few groups of fabulous high limestone islands under 100 kilometers from its mouth that are interesting to the district. These developments are called visit a-wa-pis-shkag in Swampy Cree.
