About Athabasca
Athabasca initially named Athabasca Landing, is a town in northern Alberta, Canada. It is found 145 km 90 mi north of Edmonton at the crossing point of Highway 2 and Highway 55, on the banks of the Athabasca River. It is the focal point of Athabasca County. It was known as Athabasca Landing before August 4, 1913. Not at all like numerous different towns in Alberta, Athabasca originates before the railroad. It was the end of the Edmonton to Athabasca Landing trail. Athabasca lies on a southern distension of the Athabasca River. Amid the hide exchange time, when waterways were the important methods for transportation, the Athabasca– Edmonton trail associated two diverse seepage bowls.

The Athabasca Heritage Society set up signs through the downtown and also along the riverfront that clarify and delineate the history. It has distributed a recorded strolling visit that is accessible from the town office, library and guest data focus. In the 2016 Census of Population led by Statistics Canada, the Town of Athabasca recorded a population of 2,965 living in 1,194 of its 1,313 aggregate private homes, a −0.8% change from its 2011 population.
