About Amherstburg
Amherstburg is a town near the mouth of the Detroit River in Essex County, Ontario, Canada. In 1796, Fort Malden was established here, stimulating growth in the settlement. The stronghold has been assigned as a National Historic Site. The town is roughly 25 kilometers south of the U.S. city of Detroit, Michigan, confronting Wyandotte, Grosse Ile Township, Brownstown Charter Township, Trenton, and Gibraltar, Michigan.
It is a piece of the Windsor evaluation metropolitan zone. French homesteaders had settled along what turned into the Canadian side of the Detroit River amid the frontier time, building up little ranches. The Petite Côte settlement was established along the stream toward the north.
