About Teresina
Teresina is a town in northeastern Brazil, at the confluence of the Parnaiba and Poti Rivers. In a nineteenth-century mansion, the Piaui Museum displays art work and artifacts including fossils, cash and furnishings. The Palace of Karnak is in Greco-Roman fashion, with gardens designed by landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx. Nearby, the Master Dezinho Crafts Center market has stalls promoting goods from round Piaui nation.
The city lies alongside the Parnaiba River, 220 miles upstream from the Atlantic port of Parnaiba. Founded in 1852 as the brand new capital of Piaui, it turned into originally named Therezina for the Brazilian empress Teresa Cristina. Since then, it has become the chief business centre of the center Parnaiba River valley and has textile flowers, sugar refineries, distilleries, cleaning soap factories, and sawmills. Teresina exports farm animals, hides, goat skins, carnauba wax, babassu palm oil, feijao, rice, cotton, and cassava.
The city boasts a tremendous soccer stadium. To alleviate the place’s annual six-month drought, the Brazilian authorities has dug wells and constructed dams to lure water for the duration of the rainy months to preserve the waterways flowing throughout arid times. A dual carriageway and a railroad result in Sao Luis, two hundred miles northwest. Shallow-draft riverboats can navigate northward to Parnaiba, and the city has a business airport.
