Taua

Taua is a municipality inside the country of Ceara inside the Northeast location of Brazil. In 2010 it had a total population of 55,755 humans. It is one in all the biggest municipalities inside the state, with an area of 4,018.188 rectangular kilometres. The toponymy of Taua refers to an indigenous phrase meaning "yellow clay and loam" in the Tupi language. Its origins date from at the least the early 18th century.

On December 14, 1801, Ouvidor Gregorio Jose da Silva went to the small settlement of Taua to elevate the web page to a town. On May three, 1802, it have become a formal settlement. On August 17, 1832, it turned into given freguesia repute. On December 2, 1889, the web site became renamed Sao Joao do Principe dos Inhamuns. It obtained the category of city on August 2, 1929, returning to its former call. The metropolis is located 337 kilometres faraway from the capital of Ceara State, Fortaleza.
