About Ricardo Brennand Institute

The Ricardo Brennand Institute is a social establishment situated in the city of Recife, Brazil. It is a not-revenue driven private association, introduced in 2002 by the Brazilian gatherer and businessperson Ricardo Brennand. It contains an exhibition hall, a workmanship display, a library and a huge stop. The Institute holds a perpetual gathering of memorable and creative objects of differentiated provenience, running from Early Middle Ages to twentieth century, with solid accentuation in articles, archives and fine art identified with Colonial and Dutch Brazil, including the world's biggest array of works of art by Frans Post. The Institute likewise houses one of the biggest accumulations of ordnance on the planet, with 3,000 pieces, the dominant part of which were delivered in Europe and Asia between the fourteenth and nineteenth centuries.
The library has more than 62 thousand volumes, going from sixteenth to twentieth century, including an accumulation of brasiliana and other uncommon things. The Ricardo Brennand Institute was introduced in September 2002, with a presentation committed to Albert Eckhout, showing out of the blue outside Europe the greater part of his artistic creations done in Brazil, which have a place with the National Museum of Denmark. In 2003, the Institute opened the perpetual display Frans Post and Dutch Brazil in the accumulation of Instituto Ricardo Brennand, initiated by Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, on the event of her visit to Brazil.
