About Passira
Passira is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Pernambuco. The municipality is shaped by using the principle districts and Bengalas, and by the cities of Pedra Tapada, Poco do Pau, Vertente Seca and Candiais. There are facts that Father Ibiapina had a chapel committed to Saint Joseph built on the site. The village evolved around the chapel with the name of Pedra Tapada, due to the fact there were in the area herbal tanks within the shape of small cacimbas, among the tremendous slabs that spread within the river mattress. The alternate of name become due to the Passira mountain, close to the metropolis. The call of the municipality comes from the Tupi-Guarani and manner "wake up smooth".

The district became created with the denomination of Malhada, with the aid of the municipal regulation nº 2, of 19 of December of 1892 , subordinated to the municipality of Limoeiro Pernambuco. The council become created by way of State Law No. 4981, of 20 of December of 1963 while it become emancipated from Limoeiro and expanded to metropolis status by means of the mayor Sebastiao de Oliveira Pinto first mayor of Passira.
