About Normandia
Normandia is a town located within the northeastern area of the Brazilian state of Roraima. Normandia covers 6,966.81 km2, and has a populace of 9,754 with a populace density of 1.28 inhabitants consistent with rectangular kilometer. The city consists almost entirely of indigenous areas; 98.6 percentage of the land location of the city is a part of the Raposa Serra do Sol indigenous reserve. The ultimate location includes the metropolis seat positioned close to the Brazil-Guyana border. Normandia takes its call from the vicinity of Normandy in France, the birthplace of settler Henri Charriere, higher called "Papillon".
Charriere became sentenced to serve time in a most protection jail on Devil's Island in French Guiana. He and several inmates controlled to break out from French Guiana to Brazil and settled inside the vicinity of gift-day Normandia. While Charriere left the settlement after 4 or 5 years, different inmates became everlasting citizens. The Municipality of Normandia become created by way of Federal Law No. 7,009 of July 1982, with land separated from the country capital of Boa Vista.
