About Modern Art Museum
The Solar do Unhao is a sixteenth century building showered by the Bay of All Saints and a standout amongst the most fantastic dusk sees in Salvador.
Made in 1960 in the anteroom of the Castro Alves Theater, it was just in 1963 that the Museum of Modern Art of Bahia MAM-BA had the site as its authoritative headquarters.
The Italian designer Lina Bo Bardi made the MAM-BA venture with the expectation of making a school exhibition hall to support and uncover the social generation of the Northeast locale.
The fundamental change that the draftsman made in the structure of the Solar do Unhão was to destroy the second floor of the house, making an expansive wooden staircase, just with fittings and without nails, recreating those utilized as a part of bull autos.
In spite of Lina's significance to MAM-BA , the modeler was let go in 1964 with the Military Coup.
