About Punata
Punata, called La Perla del Valle, is a town and municipality of Bolivia, capital of the province of Punata inside the department of Cochabamba. Its call derives from Quechua and way "peak or high region". It is thought for being one in all the biggest producers of chicha del Valle, a traditional drink that has been in lifestyles for the reason that Inca length; and it's also recognized for making the well-known rosquetes.
The historic origins of Punata go again to the time of the reign of Inka Qhapaj Yupanki. Punata was the seat of the Royal Cacique Incas. Its foundation happened on February 15, 1781. During the colonial technology took shape and government of the capital town. It was shaped as a Spanish village, its fertile land being very important for agricultural production. The Curate of Punata belonged to the Clisa Party. Don Andres de Santa Cruz, during his characteristic as president, and Minister Dr. Andres Maria Torrico, returning from Chuquisaca on May 11, 1838, arrived in Mizque on May 13 and May 16 arrived at Punata.
