Jambay Lhakhang

Jambay Lhakhang is one of the most established sanctuaries in the kingdom. It was established by, Songtsen Gampo, a Tibetan King in the seventh century AD. The lord was bound to manufacture 108 sanctuaries known as Thadhul-Yangdhul sanctuaries on and over the fringe in a day to quell the demoness that was living in the Himalayas. Legend has it that Guru Rimpoche went to the site a few times and regarded it astoundingly sacrosanct. Chakhar Gyab, the ruler of the Iron Castle of Bumthang revamped the sanctuary in the eighth century AD.

The primary ruler of Bhutan, Gongsa Ugyen Wangchuck developed the Dus Kyi Khorlo Kala Chakra-Wheel of Time inside the sanctuary, to honor his triumph over his opponents Phuntsho Dorji of Punakha and Alu Dorji of Thimphu after the clash of Changlimithang in 1885. Afterward, Ashi Wangmo, the more youthful sister of the second ruler of Bhutan, manufactured the Chorten lhakhang.
