Val-Saint-Lambert Abbey was a Cistercian abbey within the Prince-Bishopric of Liège. Founded in 1202, the abbey's monks have been expelled for the duration of the French Revolution. In the nineteenth century, the constructing ruins had been converted into the Val Saint Lambert crystal factory. The structure is taken into consideration to be an critical example of Cistercian architecture. Up to the yr 1192, the web site changed into nearly abandoned.

The foundation of the abbey is attributed to Hugues de Pierrepont, Bishop of Liege, who in 1187 decided to establish Val-Saint-Lambert. The abbey changed into a daughter residence of Signy Abbey in Ardennes, France, which changed into a daughter residence of Igny Abbey. Val-Saint-Lambert Abbey became inhabited by means of a spiritual network for hundreds of years; it prospered and have become powerful. The abbey's chateau served as the summer season palace of the Prince-Bishopric of Liege.
