About Olmen Zoo
Olmen Zoo was an open, now a private zoo in the Belgian town Olmen which is a piece of the town of Balen. On 11 October 2017, the zoo was shut because of creature welfare breaks.
The zoo was opened in 1976 by Louis Roothooft, a previous skipper. He used to live close Antwerp where he had a private accumulation of remote creatures. He got some land in Olmen and moved his creatures to the new area.
The Olmen Zoo was established. As Roothooft cherished the carnival a major bazaar tent was soon set. Every day the creature carers did execution acts with the creatures.
Roothooft kicked the bucket mid-1990s and the recreation center was sold to the family Verheyen in 1995. The new proprietors additionally had a private accumulation of creatures which were currently transported to Olmen.
The Zoo was in an awful condition because of the blunder of Roothooft, confines were not adjusted to the creature needs and the quantity of clients was too low to make adequate benefits. That is the reason the recreation center was remodeled.
The ventures succeeded: the quantity of guests raised from 9,000 to 200,000 in the principal year. The carnival tent was expelled and no more demonstrations were given.
