About Klaarland Priory
Klaarland Priory or the Priory of Our Lady of Klaarland is a Trappistine monastery in Lozen in Bocholt inside the province of Limburg, Belgium. In 1970, six nuns from the Abbey of Our Lady of Nazareth at Brecht commenced a new basis: first in the district of Kiewit in Hasselt and, since 1975, on the present website in Bocholt. The priory stays subordinate to Brecht Abbey. Life inside the priory is characterized by prayer, studying and manual work, the 3 primary elements of Trappist lifestyles. The rhythm of the day is interrupted at set hours for celebrating the Liturgy of the Hours.
These seven prayer offerings which take area at some point of the day are accessible to anyone, both guests and traffic. On each day there may be significant time foreseen for mental studying, Lectio Divina. As in all other groups, the nuns paintings for their day by day bread. Throughout the years some small corporations were developed, such as brewer's yeast, hand-woven adorns, candles, herb salve, rub down oil and greeting playing cards. There is likewise a small guesthouse wherein women who seek silence and prayer can live some days. The priory can not be visited casually, but.
