About D'Ursel Castle
D'Ursel Castle Dutch: Kasteel van Hingene, additionally known as the Kasteel d'Ursel was once the personal summer season residence of the Duke of Ursel in Hingene inside the municipality of Bornem, province of Antwerp, Belgium. Today it is belongings of the State, and opened to the general public. The first resident became Diederik van de Werve 1519-1598, his descendants sold it to Conrad III Schetz in 1608. The property became the summer house of the House of Ursel. The Dukes of Ursel and their own family resided for 350 years on the estate. Its original view can be visible inside the Flandria Illustrata. A well-known resident became Conrard-Albert, first Duke of Ursel
1665-1738. His son, Charles, 2d Duke d'Ursel requested Giovanni Niccolò Servandoni 1695-1766 to remodel the circle of relatives estate. The the front became made symmetric like a palace. Around 1960 the castle became offered by using Henri, 8th Duke d'Ursel, the furnishings, own family information and contents of the library have been eliminated from the fortress. The House of Ursel left the town, and selected to reside henceforth in Brussels.
