About Chimay
Chimay is a Walloon municipality in the Belgian province of Hainaut. In 2006, Chimay had a populace of nine,774. The region is 197.10 km² which gives a population density of 50 population in line with km². It is the supply of the Oise River. In the administrative district of Thuin, the municipality turned into created with a merger of 14 communes in 1977. The Trappist monastery of Scourmont Abbey within the city is famous for the Chimay Brewery. The foundation of the name is from the Celtic word coimos meaning "pretty, first-class". The Walloon names of the region names are in brackets and italics.
Chimay has traditionally hosted an annual motor racing event, run on a street circuit shaped from local public roads. From the 1920s to 1960s the occasion was run for modern-day Grand Prix and sportscar classes, and blanketed the well-known Grand Prix des Frontieres. In recent instances, at the same time as the occasion has continued it has been run for historic race series. The song in short misplaced its licence in 2006 associated with protection fears, but has on the grounds that had it reinstated.
